This lift is fitted with a 'goalpost' barrier across the side handrails.
When the lift rises from its lowest position the goalpost also rises.
Finally when the lift is at the upper level persons and goods may be loaded onto the platform.
As the lift lowers then the goal post lowers to prevent people falling off the raised level onto the lift.
